Read some things about Illegal Immigration today and made me think of this…
If things were better in people’s native countries, they would not possess the same need to Illegally come to the USA. I get that. But whatever happened to fixing one’s own house? I know, I know, “But it is hard, and there is corruption, and drug gangs, and lack of jobs, and it is hard, etc.” I hear ya. Know what? Every people have had this. We [USA] had problems once, and still do. Remember a little thing called the War of 1812? The Revolutionary War? How about the Civil War? Remember Slavery? Or women not having the right to Vote? How about the Great Depression? The Dust Bowl? Segregation? Remember the Civil Rights Movement? I could go on and on, but the point is, our Country is what it is due to much effort, bloodshed, and sacrifice.
And still a variety of social/economic circumstances cause millions of people to Illegally enter the United States. The USA is not uncompassionate to want to control the flow of immigration. I wonder, why not help the endless line of people trying to LEGALLY enter the USA. I want to help THEM. Call me a fancy-pants, but I find comfort in rules. Why not help those who are playing by the rules? There is a line of people, millions deep, trying to legally enter our Country. You want compassion? Fairness? How about a 2-for-1 rule. Let two Immigrants in, legally, and deport one who is already here, Illegally. It’s called positive reinforcement, folks. 2-million law abiding people standing in line come in today, and 1-million Illegal Foreign Trespassers get deported tomorrow. How is that not the right thing to do?
